This once-in-a-lifetime interactive event will transport guests to the abandoned mansion of the infamous Dr. Moreau. Join his anatomically altered humanoid beasts as they stage a hybrid circus!
Satyrs, centaurs, and other chimerical creatures will devour hors d'oeuvres by CORK Catering, consume carnival treats, and imbibe wine, beer, and Monkey Gland cocktails by North Shore Distillery.
The evening's ringleaders, a pair of haughty golden rams, will preside over a vaudevillian revue, featuring live band The Scarring Party; DJ Coffin Banger; cabaret dance acts Lily White Sass, Viva La Muerte, and Reggio "The Hoofer"; sideshow spectacle Sanjula Vamana; and geek magician The Amazing Tomas
Here you can hunt for hidden evidence of the depraved doctor’s secret surgeries, collecting game pieces to assemble a stuffed hybrid creature custom-designed by Shawnimals. Undergo your own manimal metamorphosis in the House of Pain with face painting by make-up artist Ann Marie and Vaudezilla Productions, and be captured in the photo cage for a post-operative portrait with a live snake.
Plus tarot card readings by Madame Mystiquelle, karaoke with DJ Carl, a silent auction of oddities and artwork, including the original watercolor of The Menagerie's chimera illustration by Jenny Kendler, and so much more!

International Museum of Surgical Science
The Museum’s mission is to enrich visitors’ lives by enhancing their appreciation and understanding of the history, development, and advances of surgery and related subjects in health and medicine. Founded by Dr. Max Thorek as a division of the International College of Surgeons, IMSS has educated and inspired the public since 1954.
The Museum’s four floors of extraordinary exhibits, housed in a landmark turn-of-the-century mansion on Lake Shore Drive, interpret the ancient and modern healing practices of Eastern and Western civilizations from acupuncture to x-rays. In addition, IMSS’s ongoing “Anatomy in the Gallery” program showcases rotating exhibitions of medically inspired contemporary art within the unique context of the Museum’s historical exhibits and artifacts.

Death by Design, Co. is a special effects and video-based company established by artists Michelle Maynard and Teena McClelland in May 2005. The Death by Design team constructs film sets and immersive environments at select locations where visitors are invited to enter another realm and engage in an in-depth conversation with life through their own “Hollywood” death. Visitors can either watch the action unfold or be part of the story line, infiltrating the artwork as live (and dead) bodies.
This event will be Death by Design’s second annual “party” installation. Proceeds will benefit the International Museum of Surgical Science’s educational and artistic exhibits and programs.
